Hey everyone! I hope you are having a good day and here’s my wrap-up for June. This month seems to have lasted forever but quickly at the same time. Also, at the time that I'm writing this, and when this post goes up, I'll actually be in Kansas, so this post will be shorter than usual :)
So this month, I finished up my first year of high school (!!!) and my 6-month blogoversary passed a couple of weeks ago. The first couple of weeks after school ended, I spent upwards of 3 hours a day working on blogging things, reading and reviewing, blog hopping, and started my bookstagram. (If you haven't seen my bookstagram, my username is @thecozylittlebooknook. I use Twitter and Instagram a lot when I don't have access to my laptop). I've worked with a lot of other bloggers for both BBCP2016 and SBPT2016 and came up with a lot of great ideas that I'm excited to share with you! Also, my first guest post went live on Fiery Reads. It was my first experience guest posting and I'm looking forward to collaborating with more blogs and bloggers to be able to guest post more. Also, if you are interested in guest posting on here, email me at [email protected] Since I am typing this post up on my phone, I really don't want to type up all the links to all the posts that I did this month but if you want a list of them, tell me below in the comments and I will put together the list for you next week :) Look forward to my July TBR and blog goals by tomorrow or maybe the day after. What have you done this month? Link YOUR monthly wrap up below and I will check them all out later. What else do you want me to do for July and what are you looking forward to the most? ~Brooke

Will Olivia run again, or stay and fight for the life she and Kyle deserve? My Thoughts: Royal Delivery (The Royals of Monterra Kindle World) by Rebecca Connolly Genre: Romance Publication Date: January 20, 2016 Format: I was provided with an ebook by the author in exchange for an review. You can purchase it on kindle here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AVNY6PK/ref=docs-os-doi_0 Summary from Amazon: …Then comes marriage… Kat Fiorelli is the queen of Monterra. But with Nico at her side, and running most of the show, she could handle it. Now if their plans for starting a family would kick into gear, she would be much happier with things. But wishing for things tends to get people into to trouble, and Kat is no exception. …Then comes baby in a baby carriage! Pregnancy is no joke, and with it comes all sorts of adventures. Being a pregnant Royal is even worse, since literally everyone is watching. With the pressure of being on the throne, and her impending motherhood, Kat’s fears come to life. Could she meet the world’s expectations, and her own? Would she actually be able to handle this pregnancy on top of everything else? And the most important question of all…would her cravings ever go away? My thoughts: Ok, this is honestly the book I was looking forward to reading the most, because it continues on Kat’s and Nico’s story. *If you have not read the first book (the original one), I recommend that you read that before reading this book. You can find the original book here: https://www.amazon.com/Royal-Royals-Monterra-Sariah-Wilson-ebook/dp/B00QXUN5Y4/ref=pd_sim_351_7?ie=UTF8&dpID=51B5uYHUaaL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_UX300_PJku-sticker-v3%2CTopRight%2C0%2C-44_OU01_AC_UL160_SR107%2C160_&psc=1&refRID=CJ30ZPVJCFFC4AKN5JYN* Hey everyone! Guess what today is?? My 6 month blogoversary! Yep, exactly 6 months ago today, I posted my first post on this site (I think it was a post introducing the site. Actually, here's the link to it: Welcome to The Cozy Little Book Nook).
I really, really, really wanted to do a giveaway for all of y'all but it's currently not possible for me at the moment. But do not fear, I will definitely have a giveaway sometime in the future, and I will have one for sure for my 1 year blogoversary. In the meantime, let me know what you guys would like in a future giveaway! I have accomplished so much more than I ever thought I would be able to ...like EVER. I have reviewed 23 books up to today (and you can find them all here: Reviews). My goal is by the time this blog actually turns 1 years old, I will have 50 reviews up. But with that said, I am planning on doing a lot more guest posts, promo posts, author interviews and whatever else you may like. I've met so many people in the process. I don't want to list them all out here but I will have a list of my top favorite blogs in a separate post. UPCOMING EVENTS (that are scheduled): I have a tendency to never schedule anything (or if I do, usually it gets changed). But, I have joined a couple of projects!! The first is the Book Blogger Creativity Project (BBCP 2016) hosted by Nori by @ReadWriteLove28. If you don't know what that is, here's a link to that: BBCP Info. I don't want to spill any info about our plans yet but I will tell you that I am working with some AMAZING people (and a couple of my role models in the blogging world) The second is the Summer Blogger Promo Tour hosted by The Book Bratz. And because I'm lazy (actually I'm not) and I know that I will never explain it as well as the original post, here's the link to that too: SBPT 2016. Also, I'm now part of the Sunday Street Team! I'm so happy to be able to join a team of such talented people, and to promote books that don't receive as much buzz as they should. There are also some blog tours that I am a part of so be sure to keep an eye out for that. MY SOCIAL MEDIA!! I finally got into using my Twitter. I actually created both my Facebook and Twitter just a couple weeks after I created the blog but I didn't use them very prominently. Now I am very active on Twitter (Go follow me @BrookeEvans2001) and I created an Instagram just a couple days ago (@thecozylittlebooknook). SO go check them out and I am planning on posting a lot more now so go over and chat with me there! Also, I just reached 100 followers on Twitter and YOU GUYS, IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY. And the fact that you guys are actually visiting my blog means so much to me. Twitter: @BrookeEvans2001 Instagram: @thecozylittlebooknook I think that's all for this post. There will be more posts coming soon that may be related to this milestone but I don't want this post to be longer than it already is. I love you all and will talk to you all very soon! Go follow me on social media and I will talk to all of you there!! ~Brooke Twitter: @BrookeEvans2001 Instagram: @thecozylittlebooknook Double Life (Razia Book 1) by S. How much are you worth? Since she was a little girl, everyone - from her father to the Great Creator himself - told Lyssa Peate the same thing: she's worthless. But when she becomes the pirate bounty hunter Razia, she can see the price tag on her own head. Employed by one of the four space pirate syndicates, she uses bank transactions and her considerable wits to capture rival members. At least, she would be if Razia's boss ever gave her a chance. To pay the bills, she's stuck in her old life as Lyssa, discovering and analyzing distant planets and selling them for cash. Her slimy boss is always asking questions and even assigns one of her younger brothers, Vel, to intern with her. Already struggling to keep the balance between her double lives, she tries everything to rid herself of the kid... ...until the universal police mistake Lyssa’s intern for Razia's hostage. Double Life is the first in a four-book space opera series that readers call, "well written, entertaining, and engaging" and features "a healthy dose of snark." My Thoughts: The Way to Game The Walk of Shame by Jenn P. Nguyen Genre: YA Contemporary Romance Publication Date: June 7, 2016 Format: I purchased the paperback copy from Barnes and Nobles You can purchase a copy from Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018291M66/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?ie=UTF8&btkr=1 Summary from Amazon: Taylor Simmons is screwed. Things were hard enough when her single-minded dedication to her studies earned her the reputation of being an Ice Queen, but after getting drunk at a party and waking up next to bad boy surfer Evan McKinley, the entire school seems intent on tearing Taylor down with mockery and gossip. Desperate to salvage her reputation, Taylor persuades Evan to pretend they're in a serious romantic relationship. After all, it's better to be the girl who tames the wild surfer than just another notch on his surfboard. Readers will be ready to sign their own love contract after reading The Way to Game the Walk of Shame, a fun and addicting contemporary YA romance by Jenn P. Nguyen. My thoughts: I actually bought my copy from B&N 2 days before the release date so you can only guess how excited I was. I heard about the buzz for the book a couple weeks leading up to the publication date but the plot didn’t really interest me at first. But then...I saw the cover and I just knew that I needed to give the book another go and for some reason, I re-read the summary again and found it a lot more interesting. The Flip Side [ARC Review] by Shawn Johnson (& A.L. Sonnichsen) Genre: Romance, Gymnastics Publication date: June 7, 2016 Format: I received an ARC from the publisher (Thank You Simon and Schuster!) You can purchase a copy here: http://tinyurl.com/j9mvd4y Summary from Amazon: From gold medalist and reality TV star Shawn Johnson comes a debut YA novel inspired by her own experiences as an elite teenage gymnast—just in time for the Summer 2016 Olympic games. Charlie Ryland has a secret. She may seem like your average high school sophomore—but she’s just really good at pretending. Because outside of school Charlie spends all her waking hours training to become one of the best gymnasts in the world. And it’s not easy flying under the radar when you’re aiming for Olympic gold…especially when an irresistible guy comes along and threatens to throw your whole world off balance. Inspired by her own experiences as a fifteen-year-old Olympic gymnast, gold medalist Shawn Johnson writes a delightfully entertaining novel about chasing big dreams and falling in love, all while trying to keep it real. My Thoughts: One of the top reasons that I requested this ARC was because it is written by Shawn Johnson, an Olympic Gold Medalist and I absolutely adore her. Especially with the 2016 Summer Olympics coming up in August, the timing of the release of this book is perfect. The only event that I make sure I watch every time is gymnastics and I remember watching Shawn Johnson in 2008 and thinking how cool it must be. I could go on all day to talk about Shawn Johnson and her accomplishments but I’m guessing the real reason you’re here is to read my review right? Center Ice (Corrigan Falls Raiders) by Cate Cameron Genre: Romance Publication Date: May 19, 2015 Format: I purchased the book myself on Kindle. You can purchase the book here: http://www.amazon.com/Center-Ice-Corrigan-Falls-Raiders/dp/1943336199/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465242033&sr=8-1&keywords=center+ice Summary from Amazon: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains adult language, underage drinking, sexual situations, and crazy squirrels. It may cause you to become a fan of hockey—or at least hot hockey players. The hometown hockey hero won't know what hit him… Karen Webber is in small-town hell. After her mother's death, she moved to Corrigan Falls to live with strangers—her dad and his perfect, shiny new family—and there doesn't seem to be room for a city girl with a chip on her shoulder. The only person who makes her feel like a real human being is Tyler MacDonald. But Karen isn’t interested in starting something with a player. And that’s all she keeps hearing about Tyler. Corrigan Falls is a hockey town, and Tyler's the star player. But the viselike pressure from his father and his agent are sending him dangerously close to the edge. All people see is hockey—except Karen. Now they've managed to find something in each other that they both desperately need. And for the first time, Tyler is playing for keeps… My thoughts: Secret Notte (The Royals on Monterra Kindle World) by Marie Long Genre: Romance Publication Date: January 20, 2016 Format: I received a e-copy from the author in exchange for a review. You can get a copy of the book here: Secret Notte Summary from Amazon: In celebration of her newly acquired Fine Arts degree from the University of South Carolina, twenty-two-year-old Claudia Gray takes the vacation of a lifetime to the exclusive country of Monterra, which the media has recently deemed the newest, hottest tourist spot in Europe. Claudia takes in the country’s beautiful scenery while also working on enhancing her job portfolio. But an accident during an evening outing brings Claudia’s celebrations to a halt, and an unlikely and selfless gesture by a stranger adds a new level of flavor to her Monterran experience. Twenty-four-year-old Stefano Fiorelli, future Duke of Cittàcigni by day and the hottest Monterran deejay sensation by night, is swept up in the woman he saved, but soon, he realizes there is something familiar about her that he recalls from the past. Stefano wants to get close to Claudia, but she believes their lifestyles are too different for a relationship to ever work. But the more time she spends with him, the more she begins to second-guess those feelings. Will Claudia return to her familiar, safe, and secure lifestyle back home? Or will she decide to give a relationship with Stefano a chance? My Thoughts: Hi Everyone! So today is my first entry in my Author Interview series. I know that a lot of bloggers do this but I thought that it would be fun for me to do some interviews as well. These interviews will most likely be posted around the same time as the review for their books so there is no set schedule for these posts.
The review for Secret Notte by Marie Long will be posted tomorrow so keep an eye out for that! Now without further ado, here’s my interview with Marie Long! Hi Marie and welcome to The Cozy Little Book Nook! I'm so excited to have you here today!
The book that started me into Romance was actually a contemporary book from my RWA (Romance Writers of America) chapter mate, Abigail Sharpe. The book was called “Who Wants to Marry a Cowboy?” It was so different than what I normally read, and I enjoyed it enough to want to read more Romance books. I eventually discovered Jamie McGuire’s book, Walking Disaster, and feel in love with the New Adult Romance genre and specifically, stories that were told in the male point-of-view.
After all the authors were gathered, Sariah started a Facebook group where we can chat about the books and she can share details of deadlines, story questions/answers, and more. It was a really smooth process. We also had a pre-launch Facebook party, and that was a lot of fun. Our books launched on January 21st, which was when Sariah’s next book, Royal Chase was released. It was such an amazing experience. All of the authors were in contact with an Amazon rep who gave us the fine details of writing for the Kindle World. Basically, you write your story, but you need to provide your own editing and cover art. Once that’s done, you upload it to a special dashboard on Kindle Worlds, and Amazon does the rest. Amazon sets their own prices, which you have no control over. Also, unlike when you publish through KDP, you get 35% for each book sale, no matter what price the book is.
Also, here's some rapid fire questions:
