Right Billionaire, Wrong Wedding by Victoria Davies Genre: Adult Romance Publication Date: October 10, 2016 Format: I received an advanced review copy from the publisher for review purposes. You can pre-order a copy here: https://www.amazon.com/Right-Billionaire-Wedding-Victoria-Davies-ebook/dp/B01M0HQX9B?tag=entangpublis-20 *This book is in the ADULT Genre so younger audiences should not proceed with this review. Other than that, hope you keep reading and like it!* Summary: Darian King has never met a challenge he couldn’t handle. Running a billion-dollar corporation? Piece of cake. Hostile takeovers? A walk in the park. But when his little sister begs him to plan her wedding, Darian finds himself less than prepared for the task. Luckily, he knows just who to ask for help. Allison Reed wants nothing more than to leave King Enterprises behind. Being the personal assistant to a man like Darian is a 24/7 job. Asking her to help plan a wedding is simply the icing on the stress-filled cake but to leave she needs a glowing reference and will do anything to get it. Even plan a wedding with the man of her dreams. Stepping outside the office has unexpected consequences. Darian doesn’t believe in relationships, yet he’s starting to see Allison in a whole new light. But he doesn’t know her secret, and she fears that by the time the vows are exchanged, she won’t just be leaving her job behind but her heart as well. My Thoughts: So again, as I mentioned in my last review for Make Me Stay by Rebecca Brooks, I will be having a total of 3 ADULT level books reviewed on my blog this month. This is the second of them. THe last of the 3 will be coming sometime next week I believe. So onto the review.
I’m not sure what drew me in. This isn’t usually the type of book I automatically grab for, but for some reason I requested it, and when it showed up in my inbox, I thought, why not give it a try? There were parts that I liked and some that I didn’t quite as much. Again, this book is not appropriate for younger audiences so if you are not comfortable with reading about sex, and a relationship between boss and assistant, I urge you to stop reading right here and go back to the REVIEWS tab where there are plenty of other books that you can find out more about. One of the things I didn’t like about Allison as a character is that she wasn’t brave enough to just go into her boss’ office and quit, and she kept putting it off, and pushing it until she got roped into yet another project. But I guess I can't complain too much about that because otherwise there really wouldn’t be any story here correct? A couple things that I did like about Allison is that she wasn’t afraid to go and get what she wanted, and I mean from her boss Darian. Also she took control when they went to visit all the venues possible for the wedding and when Darian was being unreasonable, she stepped in a made sure everything was conducted in a somewhat orderly fashion. Also the concept of her planning a FREAKING WEDDING is so original. It’s also ironic that she meets the perfect guy while planning the wedding for his little sister, Jenny. I actually was hoping for more scenes with Jenny because I think she could have played a slightly larger role in Darian and Allison’s relationship, mainly because of her more innocent side and her knowing background on both the characters. Darian on the other hand, had some issues. He could not commit, and he’s had multiple hook-ups, but no real dedication to any of them. But in spite of that, he still came around and deemed himself reasonable. The ending was nice. But I was hoping for more of a epilogue sort of thing. Like, what happened with Allison and her new work? What about their relationship? Their wedding? Lot’s were left unwritten and that bothered my just a smidge. (Did I really just say smidge? yikes…) Overall, I give the book a 6/10 (3/5 stars). While I enjoyed the plot and the characters overall, there were still some things that left me unsettled. The characters were well written, but some things just didn’t work for me. I feel like reading all of these book are giving me unreasonable expectations for when I actually get to this point in my life. Oh well, the damage is already done :) What did you think about the review? WIll you go and pick it up?
