Kisses on a Paper Airplane by Sarah Vance-Tompkins Genre: YA Romance Publication Date: August 12, 2016 Format: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley. You can purchase a copy of the book here: https://www.amazon.com/Kisses-Paper-Airplane-Sarah-Vance-Tompkins-ebook/dp/B01BTEUL86 Summary: Drama student Hannah Evans isn't kissing any frogs on her path to find Prince Charming. She's determined to share the perfect first kiss -- with the perfect boy -- in the perfect place -- or she's not kissing at all. When Hannah meets a cute ginger-haired boy in first class lounge in the London airport, she knows he's 'The One.' Pop star Theo Callahan is on the road to get as far away as possible from his back-stabbing best friend, and his supermodel girlfriend who broke his heart. Until one shy smile from Hannah has him rethinking all of his travel plans. Theo is smitten, but he's worried she's just a groupie in search of the ultimate selfie. Can Theo learn to trust Hannah in time to share one perfect first kiss, or will Hannah be forced to kiss a frog? My Thoughts: Just a little warning, this review is really short, just because the book was also pretty short. I also read the book a little more than a month ago so it’s not as fresh in my mind as when I usually review. I love how short the book was and only took place over about a week, with the bulk of the book being in the first three days and on a airplane, with the two main characters just looking for and chasing each other. The book is totally based on like coincidental. It isn’t something that would necessarily happen to you at the airport, but I feel like it was written really well that I didn’t even notice how weird the setting was. I really liked the setting of the book. An airport is such an unique place, and the style of writing really captured the feel of traveling alone as a teen, experiencing first class for the first time and running through the airport to catch a flight. Oh, I’ve been so busy talking about the setting that I haven't even mentioned any of the characters. So Hannah is traveling back from abroad in order to attend her mother’s wedding, and Theo is heading in the same area as Hannah is and by some magical force, they’re on the same flight all the way there. They fall for each other faster than imagined possible until a scandal involving a picture of Theo arises. Then Theo has to make the decision if this stranger is worth it. The story was told pretty straight forward with a touch of humor to it. The writing style was very easy to read, without any complications. I also liked how we didn't need to know any background information about the characters in order the understand how they felt. The piece was effortless to read and I finished within 3 hours (spread between a couple class periods where I was reading on my phone under the desks...whoops… but it was worth it). Overall, I give the book a 8/10 (4/5 stars). I really enjoyed how quick of a read it was and how straight forward, with still some unpredictable parts mixed in. This was my first book that I’ve read by this author and I’m looking forward to reading more. I recommend the book if you are looking for a short and sweet romance story.
