The Boyfriend Bet by Chris Cannon Genre: YA Contemporary Romance Publication Date: August 22, 2016 Format: I received a copy from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review You can now purchase the book here: https://www.amazon.com/Boyfriend-Bet-Chronicles-ebook/dp/B01JGMCC2Q/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1473293737&sr=8-1#nav-subnav Summary: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains multiple PDAs, after-school detentions, and gambling on the side. Warning: betting on a boyfriend is bad for your health. Zoe Cain knows that Grant Evertide is way out of her league. So naturally, she kisses him. Out of spite. Not only is Grant her brother’s number-one nemesis, but he has zero interest in being tied down to one girl. She’s shocked—and secretly thrilled—when they start spending more time together. Zoe’s brother claims Grant is trying to make her his “Ringer,” an oh-so-charming tradition where a popular guy dates a non-popular girl until he hooks up with her, then dumps her. Zoe threatens to neuter Grant with hedge clippers if he's lying but Grant swears he isn’t trying to trick her. Still, that doesn’t mean Grant is the commitment type—even if winning a bet is on the line. My Thoughts

Hey Everyone! Today’s post is another Top Ten Tuesday post and the prompt this week is all about Fall TV. Since TV isn’t that much on my radar, I’m just going to list the TV shows that I absolutely love. I’m a sucker for the Disney Channel so a few of them will be from Disney. Also for those who don’t know, this weekly meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish!
So here are the TV shows that I love:
So that’s it for this post! I think I covered all of the tv shows but knowing me, I probably missed a couple of them. Let me know if you’ve seen any of these shows! As always, let me know what you thought and all your thoughts in the comments section or find me on Social Media: @BrookeEvans2001 on Twitter and @thecozylittlebooknook on Instagram. ~Brooke Daring the Bad Boy by Monica Murphy Genre: YA Contemporary Romance Publication Date: August 22, 2016 Format: I received the book as part of the blog tour organized by YA Book Tours. You can purchase a copy here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JGMCCGM/ref=s9_newr_gw_d1_g351_i6_r?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=CT9KFGH4RJEQ6VDZDWN1&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=6aad23bd-3035-4a40-b691-0eefb1a18396&pf_rd_i=desktop#nav-subnav Summary: Annie McFarland is sick of being a shy nobody. A session at summer camp seems like the perfect opportunity to reinvent herself—gain some confidence, kiss a boy, be whoever she wants to be. A few days in, she’s already set her sights on über-hottie Kyle. Too bad her fear of water keeps her away from the lake, where Kyle is always hanging out. Jacob Fazio is at Camp Pine Ridge after one too many screw-ups. Junior counseling seems like punishment enough, but the rigid no-fraternizing-with-campers rules harsh his chill. When a night of Truth or Dare gets him roped into teaching Annie how to swim, she begs him to also teach her how to snag Kyle. Late-night swim sessions turn into late-night kissing sessions…but there’s more on the line than just their hearts. If they get caught, Jake’s headed straight to juvie, but Annie’s more than ready to dare him to reveal the truth. Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains references to drinking, sexual situations, adult language, and an intense bad boy hero who will melt your heart. My thoughts:
Annie is going off to camp this summer, due to her mother’s encouragement; that she needs to go and make friends and get a summer camp experience. First, one of the things that appear on the very first page is that Annie usually spends her summers with her nose in a book and she says that like its a bad thing. I have a politely disagree. That's literally how I spent my summer this year. Jake pushed the line one too many times and now he’s facing either juvenile or going to help his uncle, who’d the director at a summer camp. Funny thing is that this summer camp is one that he attended when he was younger and both his dad and uncle went there as well. Ironically, his dad met his mom at the camp but Jake isn’t allowed to get involved with anyone. I actually really like how the story was told from both side, both Annie’s and Jake’s. THat way, we could see their individual opinions and what they thought of each other. Like we could see that they had feelings for each other but we had to wait through the suspense for them to find out that they liked each other. The ending was EVERYTHING!! I loved how it’s mirror’s Jake’s dad’s own experiences from the camp, and like that legacy continuing on. The book turned out differently than I thought. Originally, it seemed like Annie was a counselor as well, but I guess it’s good that she wasn’t because then it wouldn’t be ‘forbidden love’. Of course there were times where the characters just seemed like they were complete douchebags. They had to concern for each other and were self-centered. The book also deals with sensitive topics and also mentions LGBT topics. I really like how tastefully it was written, and wasn’t overwhelming. Also, I just have to mention that the book does use some harsher language and drinking as well as sexual activities. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I give the book a 8/10 (4/5 stars). I kind of expected more from it but it surprised me by going in a different direction. I really enjoyed reading this book and I am really looking forward to reading more books by this author. I really like all the books that come from Entangled Press and I can always count on their books to be a fun read. What did you think about the review? WIll you go and pick it up? Leave me all your thoughts in the comments below or find me on social media, @BrookeEvans2001 on Twitter and @thecozylittlebooknook on Instagram. I will be back tomorrow with another Top Ten Tuesday post! ~Brooke I decided to actually post the September TBR and announcements as a separate post from my August wrap-up so the posts didn’t get extremely long. Here I will just highlight what you can look forward to this month!!
School is getting more intense, meaning that I have more assignments due in shorter amounts of time. One thing I am looking forward to in school is English, because this class is a lot more of writing and analyzing short stories as well as other non-fiction pieces. I’m excited to read more non-fiction books because it’s not something I usually read for blogging. There’ll also be more writing assignments and I’m excited to incorporate the skills that I learn into my blog posts as well. September is also an exciting month because it’ll be my birthday on the 15th!! I’m not sure if I’ll have anything special on the blog yet but there might be. Keep an eye out for that! I have my entire posting schedule for September drafted, but of course, none of the posts are actually written yet, yikes, but no worries, they will all be up on the scheduled days. Let me know what types of posts you want to see more. Also, I’m thinking about starting a Booktube, but not sure of what content I will put on there. Of course, I will still have Classic Fridays going on throughout the month. We’ve had quite a few bloggers join us on this meme this past month and hope that more will join us this month. You can find all the info here and if you have any ideas for future weeks, email them to me at [email protected] I have a lot of book blog tours scheduled and I can’t wait for you guys to see them all. I’ve read a couple of the book already and they are all so amazing. I’m hoping to have around 20 posts this month up and read at least 7 books this month. I think that’ll all I had to share with you guys! I hope you find something that you’re looking forward to reading, and if you have any suggestions I’m always happy to hear them! As always, remember to find me on Instagram @thecozylittlebooknook and on Twitter @BrookeEvans2001 because I post updates and behind the scenes stuff on there all the time and you do not want to miss out! Tell me what you want to see this month! ~Brooke Hey everyone! I am back today with another installment with Classic Fridays. If you don’t know what Classic Fridays is, here is the page on my blog where you can get more information on it: Classic Fridays. A quick rundown of the project is that this is a weekly meme and anyone can join us in it! This week’s topic is September Releases! Which book are you most excited for this month? Interference by Kay Honeyman Why are you looking forward to this book? I read the book description/summary on Goodreads and I just knew that I had to read this book. It feels like a book that I would really enjoy. What book challenges are you participating in? As of right now, I have no challenges planned for this month yet. Please suggest some that you are participarting in and I will check them out! How many books do you want to read this month? My goal is to read 10-15 books this month. I know that I have at least 7-8 reviews going up so that shouldn’t be too hard to hit. Did you preorder any September release or do you prefer to buy them on release day? I usually wait until after the release date to purchase a book, after I’ve had time to read all the reviews of the book. Unless it’s a book that I read an advanced copy for and I know I absolutely cannot live without the book, I usually don't pre-order. Which September release has the prettiest cover? That’s like asking me which one of my fingers I like the best. They are all so spectacular and I really want to own like most of the YA ones. How many September releases have you already read? To my knowledge, I haven’t read any September releases yet. I have however read some October releases so I can’t wait until then to share them with you! If you could get 5 new releases right now, which ones would you pick? Was any of these books recommended to you by anyone? Who? Does GoodReads count? I haven’t seen that many recs for September books so I’ve been going through Goodreads’ many lists to find them. If you have the book, share a picture with us! (#ClassicFridays) Sadly I don’t have any pictures to share right now. But don’t worry, as soon as I do get any of them, I’ll post them on my Instagram! That’s it for the post today! Don’t forget to go and check out the posts from everyone else who posted Classic Fridays posts today! (The links are on the Classic Fridays page) :) Also if you have any suggestions for future week’s or just questions you think would be good, please email them to me at [email protected], including your name and any information so I can be sure to credit you!
So that’s it for this week. Don’t forget to check back on that page and find out more information if you are interested in joining us next week! As always, I will have more posts coming up this week so keep an eye out for that! ~Brooke Twitter: @BrookeEvans2001 Instagram: @thecozylittlebooknook Facebook: Brooke Evans Hey everyone! Can you believe that August is already over? To be honest, this month went by fairly slowly but there was a whole lot that went on. As most of you know, I started school again about a week and a half ago and I’ve been swamped with homework ever since.
I have a new posting schedule that was effective starting about 2-3 weeks ago, although I haven’t been sticking exactly to it. I found this to make my blog seem a little more structured because before I just posted whenever I felt like and never actually had a schedule (which meant that I had times where I went a week or even two without posting). I’ve been working with quite a few book blog tour companies to be a part in their book tours, book blitzes and very recently, I hosted a cover reveal as well. It’s been super fun to work with these amazing people and I can’t wait to be a part of more! Also August marks the start of the meme Classic Fridays!! This was created with Team Grey as part of the BBCP project created by Nori of ReadWriteLove28. This little idea that was randomly thrown out during our brainstorming process turned into a weekly meme that we’re so excited to be able to share with you all and encourage you guys to join us! Also on the topic of memes, I joined Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish. I feel like I was the last person to join in on this meme but I’m so glad that I did join in on it. It’s been so much fun to come up with a list of around 10 for each prompt each week. I almost forgot, this month also wrapped up the Summer Blogger Promo Tour, a tour to meet other bloggers created by The Book Bratz. I had the chance to meet so many other bloggers that I probably would never have met otherwise. You can find the post to wrap all that up here: SPBT Wrapup. I don’t want to make this post super long, so I’ll just link to the archive of this month’s posts: August blog posts. To give you a sense of the numbers, I had a total of 24 posts this month. To break that down, 8 were reviews, 4 were Classic Fridays, 4 were for TTT, I had 3 SBPT posts, and 3 Discussion/other posts as well. Then I can’t forget about the book blitz I was a part of and the cover reveal that happened yesterday. Speaking of numbers, I hit 10,000 total page views on my blog this month as well. It’s not that big of a milestone compared to other blogs out there but I feel like that’s something worth celebrating. It’s been more than 8 months since I started this little baby, and now I feel like I’m actually getting somewhere, that at least some people out there are interested in reading what I post, and that’s what motivates me to keep going (other than my insane love for books of course). As always, remember to find me on Instagram @thecozylittlebooknook and on Twitter @BrookeEvans2001 because I post updates and behind the scenes stuff on there all the time and you do not want to miss out! Tell me what you want to see this month! ~Brooke |
