*This book is in the ADULT Genre so younger audiences should not proceed with this review. Other than that, hope you keep reading and like it!*
She’s his…for now.
Samantha Kane is about to solidify her father’s legacy by developing sleepy Gold Mountain into the most profitable ski resort in the country. There’s one man standing in her way though. One very sexy, rugged man. When she shows up to convince Austin Reede to sell, she has no intention of hiding her identity. But with a body like his, she’ll take a few risks to get closer.
Austin was the fastest skier on the U.S. Olympic team, until he shattered his knee. Gold Mountain became his refuge—and now Kane Enterprises is threatening that home. When he meets Sam, he has no idea she’s the one to blame, he just knows the attraction between them is one he hasn’t felt in years. A scorching hot one-night stand is just what he needs. Little does he guess that it will change everything…
Ok, so the first thing that I saw and drew me in was the fact that one of the main characters was on track to make the olympic team. I’m a huge sucker for a book about anything remotely related to sports and especially the Olympics so…
So the first thing I have to mention, this book is not in my normal genre, and some people might end up saying that I’m too young to read a book of the ADULT genre, but I have to tell you, before I got into the YA genre, all the books that I read were of the adult genre.
Now let’s actually get into my thoughts about the book. Samantha is visiting the ski lodge in person, in order to meet with the one person that’s holding back her plans to make the best ski resort in the area. Immediately, we get the sense that Samantha Kane is a very busy woman and doesn’t take very many vacations, and obviously, the ski lodge means a lot more to her than most people realize. So just the fact that she is taking this vacation is a pretty big deal.
What book would be ready for some heart-wrenching drama and romance without a previous ex who just won’t leave you alone and a new hot guy that you know you want but for many, many reasons, you know you just can’t? Well this book has got it all. But to be honest, most people who would be reading this book would be the ones who are only there for the hot and steamy scenes, but other than that, there was other content in there as well.
Sam is a total boss, literally too. She’s the CEO of the company that her father passed down to her, and she know how to get. what. she. wants. But like, not in a bad way.
The one thing I love about these books is that it’s more or less predictable, and always have a happy ending. It’s always so freaking cute and never disappoints. The characters were well developed, including most of the supporting ones as well. To be honest, I actually liked the interactions among the supporting characters just a tiny bit better than the main characters.
The ending was everything, but pretty much predictable. The one thing I wanted was to find out more about one of the skiers that was training under Austin, Amelia, because it was revealed that she made the Olympic Women’s team, and that’s pretty cool. Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a book about her on the Olympic team and some hot guy?? Well, one can dream right?
Overall, I give the book a 8/10 (4/5 stars). There was nothing wrong with it, but I do feel like the plot could be driven a little further. I enjoyed the story and it was a fun and easy read, and I recommend it to people who enjoy reading in the adult genre.
