Falling for the Girl Next Door by Tera Lynn Childs Genre: YA Contemporary Romance Publication Date: November 14, 2016 Format: I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review on my blog. All opinions are my own. You can purchase a copy of the book here: https://www.amazon.com/Falling-Girl-Next-Creative-HeArts-ebook/dp/B01MCXPL5A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479002952&sr=8-1&keywords=falling+for+the+girl+next+door Summary: Sloane Whitaker never expected to like living in Texas, but after a few months in the Lone Star State, she has to admit she likes the food, the school, and the boy next door. What she doesn’t like is the fact that half her family is still back in New York. Convincing her dad to relocate to Texas requires making their upcoming visit as perfect as possible. The perfect dinner, the perfect daughter...with the perfect boyfriend. But when her not-so-perfect boyfriend Tru Dorsey is suddenly not-so-available, Sloane has to find another dad-impressing guy to show off at dinner. Tru himself suggests enlisting the help of a fake boyfriend, but the reality of another guy with Sloane on his arm might be more than Tru can manage. Add in a mysterious blackmailer and a divided family, and Sloane and Tru’s relationship might not be able to handle the heat. Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains a bad boy next door, the good girl who snags his heart, and one epically disastrous ruse-gone-wrong. Join the fun at your own risk. My thoughts: First I just have to point out that if you have not read the first book in Tru and Sloane’s story yet, you should probably read that before starting this book. You can purchase the book here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014CS5MNU/ref=series_rw_dp_sw I will have a review for that book sometime soon! I have to start off with the concept of the book as a whole. I really like it as far as the setting and the characters themselves. Both Sloane and Tru are creative people aspiring to reach their fullest potential. With Sloane being the creator or Graphic Grrl, a popular web comic and Tru being an filmmaker. I actually really liked Tru and Sloane’s relationship. I feel like that’s a lot to say because when I first started the book, it felt to me like it was just going to be a very bland and boring book, with a dry romance that gets nowhere. But I am so glad that I was wrong and the romance was fun and light. I liked the portrayal of the struggles that both characters went through. Tru had his drinking problem, but proceeded to push away Sloane, thinking that he wasn’t good enough and would influence her in some way. Then there was also Sloane’s family problems, with her brother and her dad living back in New York, and her feeling like the split is because of her. One thing I didn’t like as much is the individual interactions the characters have with the families, because they were really boring and I feel like it didn’t add to the story as much. Also I loved the ‘blackmailing’ to solve the problems. It’s just like students going to such as school would do, to get to the best spot and attempt to sabotage others, but with Sloane and Tru, they were able to defeat this one person using their own smarts. The characters are really well developed and their personalities are really fun. On a side note, the entire situation with Finn pretending to be Sloane’s boyfriend got a little intense but I just found out that there is another book about him and Willa and I need to read that!!! OK, I’m done. Overall, I give the book a 7/10 (4/5 stars). There were many great parts to the book, as well as some more boring, drier scenes that personally, I think could have been better being left out. If you’ve read the first book, I think you would really like this one a lot because it continues with their story, and it was actually quite a short read. Again, if you haven’t read the first book, you should read that one first and then come back to this one because you need to have the background knowledge of the characters.
