Weddings, Crushes, and Other Dramas by Emily McKay Genre: YA Contemporary Romance Publication Date: February 13, 2017 Format: I received a copy from the publisher for review. You can purchase a copy of the book here: https://www.amazon.com/Weddings-Crushes-Dramas-Creative-HeArts-ebook/dp/B01N9US5XA/ref=pd_sim_351_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01N9US5XA&pd_rd_r=XPMSXWEQKYDPA9V9BYH9&pd_rd_w=XfZZK&pd_rd_wg=h4nwF&psc=1&refRID=XPMSXWEQKYDPA9V9BYH9 Summary: Falling in love with the best man wasn’t on the program. Willa is happy to be the maid of honor in her dad’s upcoming wedding to uber-celeb Mia McCain. Not as happy about the best man being her soon-to-be stepbrother, the infuriating—and infuriatingly gorgeous—Finn McCain. Every time their paths cross, the attraction simmering between them grows a little harder to ignore. Willa knows all about guys like Finn—they only want what they can’t have. What’s between them isn’t real. Finn has never felt anything more real than what’s developing between him and Willa. Sure, her dad warned him to steer clear, but it’s not just about forbidden temptation. He’s determined to prove to Willa he’s not going anywhere—and that happily-ever-after will always be worth the risk. Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains a wedding so crazy it’ll make you laugh, a stepbrother so hot he’ll make you swoon, and a heroine so real she’ll make you cry. My Thoughts: I honestly meant to get this review up about a week ago, but I’ve been so swamped with writing essays that I’ve just gotten behind with writing reviews. But...I’ve had so much time to read books on the bus that I’ve actually finished quite a few books...so look for some of those reviews soon :) Ok well I read this book about 2 weeks ago so it’s not as fresh in my memory but I jotted some notes down so the thoughts are all still here. This book is the 6th book in the Creative Hearts series, written by 4(? I think) Entangled Publishing authors, and the 2nd book in the Will and Finn series. I also got a chance to read the first book in the series so I might have the review for that book on here soon as well. The book picks up where the first one left off, just a little while after so If you haven’t read that book yet, go and pick it up: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015CLB6OA/ref=series_rw_dp_sw The characters are exactly the same ones as from the first book, and most of the premise is introduced in there. One thing that is prominently changed is the amount of chemistry that is between Willa and Finn. Someone cranked it up, and if you somehow missed it before, there is no way you are going to miss it now. Something that I really like is how Finn is able to help Willa adjust and get used to her new rise to fame, as the famous Mia McCain’s future stepdaughter. He’s been able to adjust to how to handle situations smoothly since growing up in the spotlight but One thing that I absolutely love (other than the obvious plot and character attraction of course) is that fact that the book is in Austin and really highlights some of the unique features and landmarks it has, such as the Graffiti park and the lake. The houses around the lake really are beautiful and it’s depicted in the story with Mia’s house. I love how there is more depth to the characters and the love story plot than some of the other books. Willa and Finn both realize for themselves that they have feelings for the other one but they are both shy and don’t want anything to mess up the current bond that they have but also at the same time, I just wanted to take them by the shoulders and shake the heck out of them so they would just voice their opinions. Of course, it all works out in the end so no harm, no foul. I was a bit frustrating to see Willa and Finn kind of dance around each other and took most of the book for anything to really happen but the action kept going. There was not a dull moment as one thing happened right after another. But once they did get together, bAM! It’s amazing. The only thing that the book left me with is wanting to see/know what happens next as Willa and Finn are officially stepsiblings and are also dating. How does their families adjust? Where do they go off next? Ahhh so many questions, no answers at all (as for now). As for the series as a whole, I’ve only read Sloan & Tru and Willa & Finn’s stories but I love how smoothly the stories and plots flow from one to another, especially as they are written by different authors. There isn’t any inconsistencies (that I can find at least) and the story continues to move forward, while still keeping the characters from the other books in the loop. Overall, I give the book a 8/10 (4/5 stars). I loved how happily this book ended for Willa and Finn. If you liked any one of the other books in the Creative Hearts series, then I highly recommend that you go and check this book out. And if not, you might want to start with the first book in the series, or just start with Willa and Finn first and then come to this book and I assure you, you will not be disappointed. I can confidently say that I will be reading and probably reviewing the next book in the series, I believe it’s a story about Dahlia (but I could easily be wrong so don’t come yell at me later if it doesn’t happen). Once again, I would just like to thank Entangled Teen for allowing me to have the opportunity to read and advanced copy of the book and review it. Y’all are the best ever!
